SUMMARY:Demonstration by Artist Gary Spencer - How to critique a painting
DESCRIPTION:After an extensive education in art culminating in his time at Goldsmiths Gary has become an accomplished painter and educator and exhibits across the Uk. \nGary is well known for the depth of his art history knowledge too but he will join us for this Demo to discuss how we can critique our own work. \nTo that end.. \nPlease bring a painting along which you are happy for Gary to critique and bring out the fundamental things which make a good painting. This doesn’t need to be your ‘best work or a finished work’. Gary has an encouraging manner\, so don’t be frightened to bring along a painting you’re struggling with. \nThe session is designed to be a friendly and educational ! He has been invited back to repeat this exercise so it’s one to look forward to and definitely worth participating in. \nFree to members Guests welcome £6.00 at the door \nVenue TBC ( likely Lindslade School see below) \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Saturday Portrait Club
DESCRIPTION:Saturday portrait club is a test session to see how many members are interested in getting together to paint at the weekend. If it’s successful we will aim to run more sessions in 2027. \nThis event is aimed at making society events more accessible to our working members but is open to any  LBAS member who may wish to attend. \nWe will have a live model and members may draw or paint as they wish. We will supply tables and chairs however members will need to bring their own materials/equipment and a means of protecting the floor and/or table from any splashes. \nIf you use an easel we encourage you to bring a standing one to help maximise space. However you are very welcome to bring a desk easel if that is what you use/have or whatever you normally support your work with. \nTea and Coffee will be provided as well as a bit of music. \n  \nFree Member only event \n  \n  \n
