DESCRIPTION:After an extensive education in art culminating in his time at Goldsmiths Gary has become an accomplished painter and educator and exhibits across the Uk. \nGary is well known for the depth of his art history knowledge too but he will join us for this Demo to discuss how we can critique our own work. \nTo that end.. \nPlease bring a painting along which you are happy for Gary to critique and bring out the fundamental things which make a good painting. This doesn’t need to be your ‘best work or a finished work’. DESCRIPTION:Clothed life/figures drawing\n\nBridget Tompkins is a well established local artist who specialises in both life drawing and watercolour painting\, embracing a variety of subjects. \nShe is known for her trademark loose and energetic style\, using bold washes of intense colour which are often splashed across the paper. These random effects then become an essential part of the composition. Bridget strongly believes in trying to capture the ‘essence’ of the subject or scene rather than concentrating on exact detail. This method is used to convey freshness and light by leaving plenty of areas unpainted. \n\nShe also teaches life and clothed drawing with watercolour washes.\n\n\nFree to members. DESCRIPTION:Peter enjoys working in multi mediums and being able to explore my feelings about the abstract and figurative by making a statement in any way or mixture that best suits the subject. The main bulk of his work possibly relates to impressionism\, light\, mood\, atmosphere\, the moment\, materials\, texture\, image\, dimensions. Peter is a natural teacher and film making and photography have enabled him to share his experiences\, here and abroad\, with a huge audience. DESCRIPTION:After a varied career as a musician and digital designer\, Mick came back to art several years ago\, determined to finally become a Fine Artist. He began by going back to basics and initially spent two years focussing solely on drawing\, with only a 4B pencil. He then moved onto charcoal and once he embraced its particular qualities\, came to love it. A lot of artists seem to have an ambivalent relationship with charcoal\, which is why Mick likes to show in his demonstrations and workshops the versatility of the medium\, through innovative techniques and approaches. Mick specialises in Portraiture and Life Drawing\, running a weekly life-drawing session in Wokingham\, near where he lives. Over the years\, I’ve developed my skills as a teacher\, painter\, and illustrator\, constantly refining my craft. \nA few years ago\, I decided to step away from teaching to fully focus on my art. This shift allowed me to dive deeper into personal projects\, enhance my brushwork through workshops and courses\, and take on a variety of commissions. \nMy work has been displayed in group exhibitions across the UK\, including collaborations with ArtCan\, an artist-led collective. SUMMARY:Artist Demonstration - Keith Dymond -Glass
DESCRIPTION:Born in the very new town of Hemel Hempstead\, Keith was a product of the Concorde era and comprehensive school system at its best.  A proactive and very capable ‘modern technologies’ department inspired a creative but industrial /engineering-based love for design\, form functionality and materials. By 18 he had designed\, built and raced his own hovercraft using carbon fibre. He went on to spend most of his early career as an engineer\, followed by managing technology transfer projects from university to industry and latterly\, as a  designer.\nA career highlight was to be the only designer to have two industrial products displayed at the prestigious British Design Council\,  Design Centre  in London Hay Market at the same time\, in the summer of 1992 . \nKeith now works from his home in East Sussex as a glass- Artist;  a pursuit which allows him to use his engineering background in conjunction with his design skills and creativity. Keith works with all forms of Kiln fused glass and delivers hands-on and insightful demonstrations and workshops. \nKeith’s glass evokes a sense of pure form and hidden complexity\, gained through his relentless pursuit of perfection. He unites aesthetics\, chemistry\, physics and functionality through the exploration and manipulation of glass properties.  You can feel the endless adventure that Keith is willing to undertake and see the beauty of fused glass through his creative vision.  Keith takes great pride in his work and strives to bring people joy.  Not bound by any one  genre\, Keith positively embraces the idea that his work should cross the boundaries  of fun\, frivolity and contemporary style. \nKeith offers an entertaining series of talks and presentations  offering  the audience an interactive travel through the history of fused glass with quizzes\, imagery and entertaining  facts and anecdotes.  During the second half of the presentation\, Keith demonstrates some of his techniques\, culminating in a final product which Keith then takes back to his studio\, fires in the kiln\, sending images back of the finished product at a later date.

SUMMARY:Artist Demonstration - Chris Church - Animals Using Watercolour Pencils
DESCRIPTION:Chris Church is a self-taught artist working primarily in watercolour pencil\, specialising in wildlife\, animals and nature. His pieces are drawn from photos that he has taken over the years\, and brought to life through art. Visits across the UK with his young family often serve as excellent inspiration for his pieces. He was a finalist for the prestigious David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year in 2019\, and displayed the beautiful ‘Curious Red Panda’ piece in the Mall Galleries\, London.\nHe enjoys undertaking private commissions\, often beloved family pets\, but on occasion trees and scenery that are a place of significance for those requesting the commission.\nHis style creates an accurate interpretation of the picture\, with subjects immediately recognisable by their owners and handlers alike\, capturing the personality of the individual.
