Welcome to the Leighton Buzzard Art Society

Leighton Buzzard Art Society was founded over 70 years ago (1956)  and is still thriving with a membership of about 100. Full membership is open to anyone aged 18 or over who is interested in art, practicing or not, amateur or professional. Guests are welcome at all meetings on payment of an entry fee.

Our activity is centered on our monthly meetings which always feature a demonstration or talk by a professional artist. We aim to cover all areas of interest and different media including oils, watercolour, acrylics, and pencil.

Meetings take place at 8pm on the third Thursday of each month, from September to May.

  • Our annual exhibition is held at the end of October.  You’ll find details under Diary Dates/Exhibitions.

Meetings are currently held at Leighton Buzzard Day Centre situated between Westlands Old Peoples Home and the town car park at the end of Duncombe Drive which has free evening parking. The demonstration is projected on a large screen and a sound system ensures that everyone can hear. The room is spacious and comfortable and free tea and coffee are served in the interval.

Our membership year runs from September to August.
The annual fee for 2019-20 is £35.
Non-member guests at meetings are asked to pay £6 at the door, although we will occasionally charge more to help cover the costs of a more expensive demonstrator. Please check the information against each meeting in Diary Dates/Meetings.

Membership entitles you to a range of benefits:

  • Nine meetings a year, with demonstrations by a range of professional artists.
  • The opportunity to show your work at any exhibitions or sales events that we organise, and to sell it if you wish.
  • Regular newsletters by email, providing up to date information
  • Encouragement from fellow amateur and professional artists.

Professional Artist Members

Professional and semi-professional artists are welcome to join us, with the benefit of being able to exhibit their work locally, and let members know about their classes and workshops.
